Get ready for summer camp!

Troop 42 campers, we are seven days away from summer camp and the forecast is a perfect week for scouting! Here’s the list of stuff to bring to be prepared.

Essential Equipment for Camp

  • Full Scout field uniform (worn during flag ceremonies and other ceremonies)
  • Activity uniform (troop or scouting t-shirts for wear any time when not in Field Uniform)
  • Order of the Arrow sash if you have one
  • NBZ claws and regalia if you have them
  • 6-7 pairs of socks
  • Sweater or jacket
  • Raincoat or poncho
  • Extra underwear and t-shirts
  • Hiking boots and extra shoes/sneakers
  • Long-sleeved sweatshirt
  • Swim trunks (wear on Sunday for swim test during check-in)
  • Jeans or long pants
  • Hat or cap
  • Pajamas
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant
  • Bath towels and soap/shampoo
  • Mosquito repellent and sunscreen
  • Sandals (or flip-flops) to wear in the showerhouses
  • Spending money
  • Water bottle
  • Boy Scout handbook
  • Program items (see Class Descriptions)
  • Merit Badge book for each class
  • Pens, pencils and notebook for merit badge work
  • Sleeping bag or sheet/blanket
  • Pillow
  • Cot or air mattress or sleeping pad
  • Flashlight (with extra batteries)

Optional Equipment for Camp

  • Sunglasses
  • Mosquito netting
  • Bible/prayer book
  • Sewing kit
  • Padlock for pool locker
  • Camera
  • Writing paper, envelopes, stamps
  • Pocket knife (no sheath knives permitted)

Start getting your personal equipment together now. I large tote with a latch-on lid works well to protect your stuff from the elements and keep a clean tent, but is not required. Remember to wear your swim trunks when we depart on Sunday because one of the first things to do during check-in is the swim test.
